Winter in Massa Lubrense

Although winter is the least favourite season for tourists to visit seaside locations, low temperatures still allow you to enjoy the beauty of the area.

Massa Lubrense is chosen as a destination all year round, with temperatures that rarely drop below 10°C (50°F) degrees during the day. In the winter time, sunny days alternate with cloudy days, with possible rain and wind.

With the right clothes to face the low temperatures, avoiding rainy days, walking the trails remains one of the favourite activities.

Winter walks

If you’re going on vacation in Massa Lubrense in winter, there is no need to book in advance, the prices are for sure lower and the influx of tourists is at a minimum, so you can fully enjoy the area.

Once the Christmas holidays are over, some cafés and restaurants close for holidays, usually for about a month between January and February.

January days in Massa Lubrense are very short, with sunsets between 4:45 pm and 5:15 pm. Snow is a rare occurrence, very much appreciated by the inhabitants for its exceptionality. Rains are more frequent, but sunny days are not lacking.

In good weather, it is pleasant to walk through the streets and squares, where you can stop at pastry shops or restaurants to taste typical dishes. Massa Lubrense is famous for the production of olive oil, cheese, a large variety of products based on the local lemons, and much more.

At the beginning of January, the festive atmosphere of Christmas holidays is still in the air, so take the opportunity to taste the desserts of the festivities. This is also the best time for shopping, because the sales start in the second week of the month.

Massa Lubrense in February

In February the weather is still cold, but sunny days are not lacking. You can go for long walks on the beach, lose yourself in the evocatice scenery of the sea in winter, good for you mind and body.

It is possible to do religious tourism, visiting the many churches and chapels, or simply walk trhough the hamlets. You can certainly enjoy the landscape in the coldest season of the year, in abscence of crowds and traffic. Alternatively you can visit museum, archaeological sites such as Pompeii or Ercolano, in the surroundings of Massa Lubrense.

If the weather does not help, you can opt for an afternoon of shopping by choosing the local activities of handicrafts.

Massa Lubrense in March

In March the days get longer, with sunset between 5:50 pm and 7:25 pm, with the transistion to daylight saving time. Moving towards the end of the month, temperatures will rise by a couple of degrees on average.

Benefiting from more hours of sunshine, outdoor activities will certainly be more enjoyable. You can visit parks with children, such as the Parco delle Sirene in Massa Centro. While walking, you can stop at the most suggestive viewpoints, from which to observe the beauty of the area from above.

If you love the gastronomic products of the area, you can visit one of the many farms to discover the secrets of production.

So, despite the weather, there are still many activities to do!
